With interest in netball growing at an unprecedented rate, the need for Officials to service the game at every level has never been more important! Anyone over the age of 13 can become an umpire. Irrespective of your ability or playing experience, if you have a passion for the game and can successfully complete England Netball’s Into Officiating or C Award Course, you can start your journey to becoming a netball umpire.
It is a requirement for umpires to be registered with England Netball and to be working towards, or who are Into Officiating qualified or above to umpire our leagues. Any person who has undertaken both Into Officiating theory courses constitutes working towards this qualification and are often known as “in training” umpires. These requirements also relate to junior league. If you are an Under 18 umpire, you are only permitted to umpire games consisting of Under 18’s and a safe guarder must be present.
Please note that no jewellery can be worn or taped unless there is a religious or medically approved reason.
